Sadie on a picnic

For lunch yesterday, the hubs and I went for a picnic in our favorite park. We packed up our french bread, french cheese, some melon, tomatoes (for John, not for me!), and, of course, our favorite fuzzy friend, Sadie. John took a book, his ipod, and a drawing pad to keep him busy after we ate. I took a book. I'm easy to please that way.

There was only one thing we forgot- a good distraction for Sadie. So, our little nosy dog kept herself occupied walking around, trying to catch pigeons, and staring at every person, dog, or leaf that came along.

She reminds me of Dug, the dog in "Up" here.

"What was that??? I think I heard a leaf fall way over that hill!"

John, relaxing the afternoon away

Squirrel!

Smiling through the slobbery doggie kisses...

What a great afternoon. Love spending time with my 2 favorites.

Evening in Nice

It's so sad that we got the best dog possible on the first try. No other dog will ever be able to compare. Honestly, I'm not even sure our own children will be able to live up to this dog.

Checking on the neighborhood.

My two Favorites.
Please ignore the box in the background. We order Sadie's food and I hadn't thrown the box away yet.

Beautiful Sky.

Really? Can a human kid be this cute? Come on.. She is the cutest. Admit it.  And, she's smart. Genius, in fact.

It's probably a good thing we don't have a real child yet. They would think they were the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It's Wednesday! YEH! Only two more days until the weekend!

Oh... my Dog..

Sadie is a dog with a lot of quirks. First off, she doesn't really think that she is a dog. She talks (and yes, we can usually understand her), she wants to eat our food, she loves to sleep on our bed (when we aren't in it), and she would rather spend time with other people than with other dogs.

One of the more interesting things about Sadie is her love of pine cones. John and I can't quite figure this one out. Since she was little pup, if she can find a pine cone to carry around, she will. This happens only on the return trip home, and she drops it as soon as we get to the door without being asked. (She's a genius I tell you. Our children will be the smartest kids on the planet... haha)

She is also a lifeguard. Whenever we go to the beach, she is always on guard. Everyone there is in her charge and she worries about them when she can't find them. Especially John and I. We often take turns snorkeling if we take Sadie to the beach with us and it is a battle keeping her on shore when we go out of sight. On our return to shore, she has to inspect us and make sure we are ok. If there is someone else at the beach that she thinks is in trouble- she barks and sounds the alarm. She would have been a great Momma Dog.

Big goofy Lug.

Some Pictures

Here are some pictures of a few of my favorite things! Our plants and our dog!

 My Aphid killer

The plant with the purple flower is the reason for the marigold.

 One of our pepper plants!

Sadie, in her favorite place. She can see everything that is happening from right there.

Love that big goofy lazy dog...

More plant pics to come!! (and there will always be more dog pics!) Wish you a great weekend!

Sadie's Most Favoritest Toy

Forgive my grammar, but it is the most truthful way to describe this toy. About a month after Sadie arrived here my mom set a box of stuff for her. ( I know, what a lucky grandchild someday, right?) Inside this box was a toy that Sadie has loved more than any other. It has been tossed, wrestled, pounced upon, and growled at. It's squeaker doesn't squeak anymore and it is almost in 2 pieces but it is still the "go-to" toy that she will pick over any other. It has been washed in the washing machine, taken out on the balcony, and almost thrown away a dozen times. For whatever reason, John and I just can't bring ourselves to do it. When we are in the states we are going to buy a new one and I am sure she will be more excited about it that she will be to see us!

The Celebrity in the Family

For those of you who didn't know, there is a celebrity in my family. But not exactly your normal, run of the mill celebrity- although she can be a bit of a diva. It's Sadie, our lovable pooch.
Since we are new to France, and as of yet don't have anyone to watch her- Sadie has gone on every trip with us. She has seen the Pont du Gard, Nimes Coliseum, Pont du Avignon, Portofino, the 5 villages of the Cinque Terre, and Venice. This is more "world traveling" than most humans do in a lifetime. She has no idea how good her life is......
The funniest part of taking her with us is the fact that she is her own little tourist attraction. No matter where we go, there are dozens of people- French, Italian, Dutch, Australian, Swiss, American- that come up to us and want to pet her.. or ask what kind of dog she is.. or say that she is the most beautiful dog they have ever seen.. or.. my personal favorite- "Can I take a picture with your dog?" Oh, and let's not forget the lady who gave Sadie her ice cream cone. (Relax- There was no ice cream was left in it.) Pretty soon, Sadie is going to be signing autographed photos of herself. And, of course, being the people-lover that she is, Sadie just soaks it up.
It is hilarious and in many ways Sadie has made traveling even more fun. (In other ways.. it will be nice to leave her in Nice.)
